Lu Xun (September 25, 1881-October 19, 1936)

Lu Xun is a cultural giant in the 20th century. He has made great contributions in many fields, such as novels, prose, essays, woodcut, modern poetry, old-style poetry, translation of famous works, collation of ancient books and modern learning.
Lu Xun was a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, but spent a long part of his life in Beijing. This is where he lived during his last two years in Beijing, in a quadrangle.
This quadrangle is not very big, but Lu Xun put a lot of effort into it. This small courtyard originally had only six rooms in total on the north and south sides, but later, after Lu Xun's personal transformation.


In the courtyard, there are three white lilacs planted by Lu Xun, which were planted in 1925 and have been there for nearly a century.

In this quadrangle, Lu Xun wrote three collections, Huagaiji, Huagaiji Sequel, and Weeds, as well as Wandering and Chaohuazhi.

Now the former residence of Lu Xun and the museum next to it have been turned into a tourist attraction, receiving many visitors from all over the country every day, and the small quadrangle is still quiet and quiet, keeping the appearance of the year.
