Beijing's Old Slanted Street

 Yandaixie Street

The name "Yandaixiejie" first appeared in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. In the early Qing Dynasty, this street was called "Xiejie".

Some people think it’s because the street is shaped like a pipe. Some people think that these are the names of the two shops.Empress Dowager Cixi once repaired a pipe here and got this name.

In 1956, before the merger of public and private,There are about 60 stores here.Subsequently, the number of shops plummeted. There were only 13 stores left in 1984.Since then it has continued to develop until 2000,A total of 34 merchants.

Now, many more stores have opened on the street to deal with ethnic clothing and costumes, folk handicrafts such as smoking utensils and antiques.
